Mixx Evaluation
The genre I
think that the logo name mix represents is a range of different types of music
because of the thought that goes into my head when I look at the name and logo
is that this could be any or all types of new music having I mixture of vibes.
Mix sounds like “re-mix” which gives the interpretation that here is a mixture of
music available. Also this makes me think that the target audience is more
generalised this is because the target audience should relate to the logo
design which should relate to the name and family of logos.
I wanted my
target audience to appeal to a more generalised audience because it allows the
first thing you think of to relate to the genre of the music that is shown to
be fresh in the listeners mind. I aim to appeal to the audience by having
advertisements that relate to the genre of music for instants at night more
house and club types of songs would be played for the listeners that may be
going out clubbing or raving looking for a station to suit the mood and night
that they are approaching. I wanted to use the name of the station to give the
listeners some sort of implication that they are going to be listening to a
verity of different types of music on this station.
I think the
competitors for mix would be capital extra and 103.6 radio during the daytime
because they also play a wide variety of different type of music including
R&B as well as hip hop. Although they play the same type of music the dj determines
how and when the songs will be played therefor the better the dj the advantage
mixx has over its competitors.
I wanted to create a young adult looking
generalised logo to represent the radio station mixx which would show my target
audience that there is a lot of different types of music that are going to be
listening to. I wanted the logo to have a slight male dominance to it that’s
why the font colour is blue to appeal to the males, because in a family
household or even a married couple the male tends to drive the car more than
the females therefor I feel it is appropriate for the colours to appeal
predominantly to men.
To
create this logo firstly I went onto www.dafont.com and after a thoroughly
looking threw I chose the font I wanted then I installed it onto Photoshop.
This is when I typed in mixx after creating a
text box and changing font colour to blue.
After that I typed radio in green on a
different font that was already provided to me on Photoshop which was an italic
type of font using the text box tool again and changing the colour to green this
time,. Finally I clicked on the paintbrush tool and drew around each of the
logos keeping the shape of the lettering following my original paper designs.
This
logo will and have been changed into the format of jpg making these logos
compatible with all types of computer for instants windows and mac no to
mention the Internet. To create these logos firstly I went onto
dafont and chose the font I wanted then I installed it onto Photoshop where I
used different colours for each logo but same size and font. After that I
typed radio in green on a different font that was already on Photoshop which
was an italic type of font using the text box tool, next I copied the radio
layer and put it on all the other logos. Finally I clicked on the paint brush
tool and drew around each of the logos keeping the shape of the lettering
following my original paper designs.
All of these logos will and have been changed into the format of jpg making these logos compatible with all types of computers for instants windows and mac no to mention the internet.
All of these logos will and have been changed into the format of jpg making these logos compatible with all types of computers for instants windows and mac no to mention the internet.
I
believe that the colour contrast relating to the audience being predominantly
male with the blue makes it successful. I wanted this logo to make the audience
feel lively and happy therefore this could change their emotions. Also the
border around it creates the link between the families of logos representing
the station.
When I
asked the audience for feedback that they could see the resemblance between the
families of logos. They also said that it suits the genre that is trying to be portrayed
this shows that they feel I have made the right choice by choosing the genre relating
to the name of the station.
In order to create these logos I developed my
creativity skills, this allows me to be better on Photoshop at using my imagination
to create logos that are of a high quality. The practice I have had on
Photoshop allowed me to know how to get to the vision that I had created making
my imagination be created in this logo.
My work is simple but has flare so u know what
your looking at when you see it for instants if you see “M&S” you know its
Marks and Spencer’s because its extremely noticeable and memorable. An example
of a good comparison for Mixx radio is |Kiss FM because the type of genre that
they showing at the audience they are targeting is the same as Mixx this means
that they are bound to play similar songs creating competition for each other.
To make
my logo even better I could neaten the border and slightly be more creative
with the font, by doing this it allows me to get feed back and use it
productively and create changes to improve my logo which is a great skill to
have. My background colour is a bit plain I could either change the colour or
add a range of different colours to create happier calm look to the logo but on
the down side that may distract the viewer from seeing the true purpose of the
logo.
Pulse Evaluation
I
thought that the logo gave of the perception that the genre of this station is
‘hip hop’ and ‘hood music’ this is because of the type of font that was used to
say pulse. But the type of font used for radio made me think that the genre is
‘R&B’. This showed me that the target audience is teen to middle aged with
new music form the genre of music it is.
I
wanted my target audience to be 15-60 years due to type of music and genre
links to the type of logo presented so it makes it clear what I’m trying to
present to the audience. I think that pulse has 3 main competitors that are
well know and could be a threat to the station, firstly there is kiss radio
this is because it is because they play the same genre and type of music that
would be played on pulse. Secondly there are 103.6 this radio station plays hip
hop and so dose the third competitor capital extra. I wanted to create a radio
station that plays what the audience wants and always keeping up with the
newest songs. This will put pulse right up there with the well known, by doing
this it allows pulse to have a slight edge to it gliding itself to the teenage
target audience.
1. When logged on and Photoshop opened I
created a template that was A4 sized and transparent. To create the correct
size I wanted it to be printed on.
2.
Then I changed the colour of the background to white to make any other colour I
decide to use stand out.
3.To
create this logo firstly I went onto dafont and chose the font I wanted then
typed pulse in red in that font.
4. After that I typed radio in green on a
different font that was italic based and fancy that already was on Photoshop,
which was a type of font using the text box tool.
5.Then drew around each of the logos keeping
the shape of the lettering following my original paper designs.
In my
opinion I think that the most successful part of my logo was the outer layer
that created a border for the lettering. This allowed me to be able to show the
interpretation of what the word pulse means, for intents the pulse is the
action of take somebodies heart beats per minute that also why the logos
colouring is red and has the border outlines of veins.
The
audience thought that it was a bit too similar but they understood what the
genre I was trying to portray.
I have
developed my Photoshop skills as well as my creativity skill enabling me to
think out side of the box. To make
my logo even batter I could neaten the
out ling and put more veins and shading to make it look more realistic.
Vip evaluation
I thought that the logo name represents very
important people there for it links to the higher class of people, I used this to my advantage when I selected the genre as being
classical because it represents the stereotypical type of music that would be
slaying in a rich and posh family. This is because it is a pure type of music no swearing no explicit content
in most cases not even words its just about the instruments.
I
aimed to appeal the older generation by the type of font that is used in my
final logo to represent the classy lifestyle. This is because now days the
youth that listen to music tend to listen to more up-tempo and songs that other
people would like for example friends or your partner. I wanted to create a sophisticated
look that make it clear what type of radio station the audience would be listening
to rather than deceiving them that’s why I adjusted my original design to
appeal more to my target audience. I
create this logo in this way to make the people that see the logo even from a
far to know what radio station they are going to be playing.
To
create my logo firstly I created an a4 sized transparent template to be able to
have the correct printing size
Secondly
I changed the colour to pink because it creates more exemplary colour
contrasts. This allowed my outer layer to be black and my inner layer to be
white.
Then I
looked for a font on photo shop and typed in VIP Pure Music
Then I
added a border from the shapes that were available in Photoshop
Then I
looked for a font on photo shop and typed in Pure Music, which is the same as
the font that was used for the VIP wording.
Finally
I added radio in green to the logo under the additional logo that was created
In my
opinion I feel that the best part of the logo was the layout of the logo
lettering as well as the border is made it clear that I was taking a
sophisticated approach to the logo this also allowed me to be able to portray
the rich approach.
My audience
thought at first that the genre wasn’t clear enough, they though all of my
logos were too alike is font and type of setting.
To
make my logo better I changed the font as well as the outer layer making it
neater and more professional by doing this it endured the thought of the genre
being portrayed.
